FOND FAREWELL VETS PROVIDE AT HOME EUTHANASIA FOR DOGS AND CATS IN AND AROUND DORSET.

As pet owners, we do everything we can to make sure that our four-legged family members lead happy and healthy lives, and this doesn’t stop when it comes to their end-of-life care. We believe that deciding when the time has come to say goodbye is one of the most important and selfless decisions we make for our beloved pets.

We created Fond Farewell Vets to provide the most dignified, calm and peaceful way to spend those final moments together. This allows you to stay in the comfort of your own home, eliminating the need for what can be a stressful and difficult journey for everyone. At home euthanasia means that your much-loved companion can spend this precious time in their favourite place with their favourite people.

Our coverage area is a 25 mile radius of our base in Frampton, just north of Dorchester – please see map below.  However, if you fall just outside this area please do get in touch as we may still be able to help.

A huge thank you to James & Suzy for their help, understanding and consideration during an increasingly inevitable, but surprisingly unexpected and painful time of saying farewell to our treasured & well loved 15 year old Hardy.I still can’t quite believe how it all rushed up at us so quickly, even though we were now living with many of the signs, before Hardy made it clear to us that this was the moment he needed to say his farewells; before starting his next journey.Even though we weren't all at home, WhatsApp enabled both children to share their love and instruct last cuddles, kisses, strokes and goodbyes before James reassuringly and painlessly, carefully & calmly helped him on his way.We were his family, all in the room, all at home, for our Hardy's moment & final farewell and for that we will all be eternally grateful.Thank you James & Suzy for all the care, compassion and help with all that could be done from start to finish, and your kind words. We want to express our heartfelt thanks to James and Suzy for their exceptional kindness and compassion during the difficult moment of saying goodbye to our beloved cat, Pebbles who was 16 years old.She spent her last day with lots of cuddles, playing with her toys and purring.Their genuine care and gentle support made an incredibly painful process more bearable, and their dedication to ensuring Pebbles' final moments were treated with dignity and respect meant so much.Thank you, James and Suzy, for your compassion and care during such a challenging time. Your kindness will not be forgotten.

A part of the family for 18 years, when the time came to say goodbye to our beloved Katie, we made the decision to have her put to sleep at home to ensure that her final moments were as calm and peaceful as possible, rather than put her through a stressful trip to the vets, which she had always hated. Our vet provided the contact details for Fond Farewell Vets, and we spoke to James, who explained the process and made an appointment for later in the week. When James arrived, he took time to get to know Katie and talked us through the process again. We didn’t feel at all rushed, everything was at our pace and Katie was calm and content. She passed away peacefully on my lap and James gave us as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes, before taking Katie away in her bed for cremation, returning her ashes a few days later. We would highly recommend Fond Farewell Vets. One of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do was made easier thanks to the care and compassion shown by James. Thank you so much.

Making the decision to have to have your dog put to sleep is one of the most difficult decisions you will make during your lifetime. Then having the procedure carried out at the vets surgery makes it even harder. Having a company like Fond Farewell Vets, where your dog can be put to sleep in your own home where they have probably lived all their lives, helps make a very sad and difficult time slightly easier. The service supplied by Suzy and James is caring and compassionate from the first point of contact. When James came to our house to carry out the procedure he was so kind and caring. He explained every step and nothing was rushed. He examined our lovely Westie Monty, who was just over 15 years old, and assured us we were doing the kindness thing for him. James gave us as much time as we needed before and after the process.I can’t thank Suzy and James enough as they helped make the sadness just that little bit easier to take and Monty passed in his own home with the family that loved him.I would have no hesitation in recommending Fond Farewell Vets to anybody who has made the difficult decision to have their dog out to sleep.

I can honestly say James made this extremely difficult decision so much better, he was so very kind and treated my little dog with such care and kindness. He went completely at my pace, explaining everything he was doing and reassured me that everything was going as planned.I would never go back to the conventional way of putting an animal to rest after experiencing the work of Fond Farewell Vets, I really can’t recommend them enough.I am so very very grateful to them.

As a family, we recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our beloved 19 year old cat, Gump.We wanted him to be at home as he’d always been such a home boy and we couldn’t bear the thought of him not being on his beloved sofa for his final sleep. We found Fond Farewell after a quick Google search and Suzy was very thoughtful and understanding when I spoke with her on the phone.James called back a little while later to confirm a few details and discuss when we’d like him to visit. As we have 2 secondary school aged daughters we asked for a later visit as we wanted to bring them home first to spend some time with Gump before James visited us, he was very accommodating regarding this.James arrived and took plenty of time to explain, firstly to my husband and myself what would happen, and then our daughters joined us before he began with the process.James was incredibly calm, professional and thoughtful when it came to dealing with not only 2 adults, but 2 heartbroken teenage girls. He never once rushed us and also went to another room whilst we said goodbye one last time as a family, before returning for the final injections. Our beautiful boy, passed away peacefully surrounded by the people who had loved him for 19 years, at home in his favourite spot and we are incredibly grateful that we could do this for him.Thank you Fond Farewell for undertaking, what cannot be an easy task, in such a thoughtful, considerate and kind manner. We will be forever thankful that on such a sad day you were able to make it just that bit easier on us all.

Nigel part of our family for 15 years. I was dreading the inevitable. He hated going to the vets (associating all his past pains). When it was time to say goodbye, I called the vets to make an appointment to have him euthanised. They had no availability and said they would see what they could do.I got a call back from the practice manager who said a friend had used Fond Farewell ltd. She said they would come to the house.I was happy they would do it at home, as it was so much better for Nigel as he could be with his family.I did not realise at the time, just how grateful I would be.I phoned Fond Farewell and spoke to James. He took down my details and explained the procedure thoroughly over the phone before letting me know a time he would arrive. When James arrived Nigel was calm and took to James straight away. He spent time getting to know Nigel, and again explained to mum an I the steps to come. After an injection which Nigel was not aware of he was totally pain free and slept. I could see he was so comfortable. After about 10 minutes James asked if we were ready. Mum had had her cuddles with Nigel, and James placed him on his favourite bed before administering the final injection.Everything was done at our pace, and with absolutely no stress to Nigel. Options were were given to us for final arrangements. Decisions were made so easily because James was so thorough.I could go on, because I am immensely grateful to Fond Farewell service. I miss our boy very much, but I am so happy I made the decision to go with them. Two days later we received a beautiful card in the post. It was so personal and a lovely touch. Thank you. A much appreciated service from James and Suzy

We sadly had to say goodbye to our 13 year old Labrador cross Rocko last weekend and we are so happy that we chose Fond Farewell Vets. I knew that when Rockos time came I didn’t want to take him into a vets where he would sometimes be stressed and I didn’t want to fight back my emotions in a full reception room at our local vets, we knew his time was coming to an end but didn’t expect it to be so soon. James managed to fit us in at extremely short notice and made our final moments with him peaceful and calm, he was able to fall asleep peacefully in our garden. Everything was explained and we didn’t feel rushed at all. We would highly recommend Fond Farewell.

At nearly 15 years old we had to make the very hard decision to say goodbye to our gorgeous Black Labrador Charlie. Rather than taking Charlie to the vets we decided to have him put to sleep at our home. We did our research & found Fond Farewell Vets. James was superb, handling everything from start to finish sympathetically to us and with dignity & care for Charlie. For such a very sad occasion we both felt it could not of been handled better. James took care of every detail & our lovely boy had his last tasty treats on his quilt out in the garden. We will miss him everyday but we both know he had the best ending to a full & fun life. Thank you to James for helping us with making the right decision & for taking such good care of us and Charlie in his final hours. Chris & Chris

We had to say farewell to our beautiful English Bull Terrier Gerty after 15 years together. We found Fond Farewells and are so glad we did. James was caring and patient, both with us and Gerty. It was obviously emotional for us and we were grateful for the James' kindness and professionalism. He suggested things we hadn't thought about which was helpful during the time. I highly recommend Fond Farewell Vets if you want to give your pet a peaceful goodbye in the comfort of your home. It made a world of difference in letting her go and feeling it was the kindest way for that to happen. Thank you James
